About the Rossi 2013 Mugello "Tartaruga" Helmet
Tartaruga means turtle in Italian, and the design has a personal connection to Rossi's childhood.
His mother gave him a toy turtle when he was young, which he attached to his helmet while racing minibikes. The turtle eventually became one of his personal good-luck symbols.
For Mugello in 2013, Rossi and designer Aldo Drudi created a humorous helmet reflecting Rossi's difficult start to the MotoGP season.
The graphics feature a cartoon turtle shell, oversized eyes, his bulldogs Cesare and Cecilia wearing turtle shells, and miniature racers depicting Rossi chasing Dani Pedrosa, Marc Márquez, and Jorge Lorenzo.
It was Rossi's way of poking fun at his performance while acknowledging that he was chasing his competitors.
